Sindh Government Library, Mirpurkhas

Sindh Government Library Mirpurkhas was established in 1989. This library did not have its own library building. It has been functioning in District Cultural Association (NGOs) building Mirpurkhas since April 1991. However, a development scheme of Culture Department – “Establishment of Cultural Complex at Mirpur Khas” is nearing completion. The library will be shifted in the newly constructed Cultural Complex before the end of 2011.

Collection of Books and Periodicals
This library has 19,594 books in English, Sindhi and Urdu. Besides, 1,549 books are kept for children, although there is no separate section for children. Besides, 22 daily newspapers and 18 periodicals in English, Sindhi and Urdu are made available in the library for readers.

Facilities and Services
There are only limited facilities in this library. However, it is expected that after shifting to the new premises, the facilities in the library will significantly improve.

Visitors / Membership
Approximately 150 readers visit the library daily. All citizens are entitled to use the library facilities free of cost. However, the national ID (CNIC) is generally sought / checked off and on to ensure safety and security of the readers / visitors.

Timings / Off Days
The library timings are from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. daily on all working days. The library remain closed on Sundays and other public holidays.
