Director General Culture is the head of Directorate General Culture Sindh having following responsibilities:* To promote Art and Literature focusing Intangible Cultural Heritage of Sindh nationally and internationally.
* To organize / support cultural and literary activities i.e. art exhibitions, craft exhibitions, intellectual gatherings, theaters, drama, musical events, workshops, symposiums and seminars physically and digitally.
* Cultural exchange activities with other provinces and countries.
* To liaison with national and international organizations for preservation and promotion of intangible cultural heritage of Sindh
* Publication of books on Art, Culture, History, Sufism, Research etc
* To manage cultural spaces i.e. auditoriums, cultural museums, art galleries, studios, cultural centers and other facilities of Directorate General Culture.
* Welfare of artists, writers, poets etc
|| DIRECTOR GENERAL (ANTIQUITIES & ARCHAEOLOGY) (BS-20)
* Director General (Antiquities & Archaeology) is the Research based technical professional post.
* Director General (Antiquities & Archaeology) is the technical head of the Directorate General having in-depth research and study on Archaeology of Sindh; having written/published at least seven Research Articles on the Archaeology / Heritage of Sindh.
* Director General (Antiquities & Archaeology) is responsible to plan, organize, guide and supervise the Conservation, Preservation & Restoration works of Archaeological Sites, Monuments and Heritage Buildings of the province.
* Director General (Antiquities & Archaeology) is required to conduct and lead Archaeological Field Operations, Archaeological Survey and Excavations in Sindh.
* Director General (Antiquities & Archaeology) collaborates with UNESCO, World Heritage Center, ICOMOS Paris (France) and Foreign Archaeological Missions of different countries such as America, France, Italy etc.
* Director General (Antiquities & Archaeology) deals with national & International delegations/University Teams/experts etc.
* Director General (Antiquities & Archaeology) formulates comprehensive strategy for developing information on physical Heritage of province and take measures to produce Technical Reports (i-e State of Conservation Report, Disaster Risk Response Report, Conservation Plan, Management Plan, Master Plan) of high quality of all the works, studies, Researches undertaken by the Directorate General.
* Director General (Antiquities & Archaeology) prepares Nomination Dossiers for placing the Archaeological sites on the List of UNESCO.
* Director General (Antiquities & Archaeology) is also required to prepare programs of annual archaeological survey, excavation, preservation & restoration of Archaeological sites, monuments and Heritage buildings; so as to preserve, protect and promote the Heritage of the province.
||DIRECTOR GENERAL LIBRARIES
* The Directorate General of Public Libraries Sindh is the head of all the 42 No. of libraries operational in various cities of Sindh province.* It is responsible for formulating and implementing mechanisms, standards, procedures for libraries to ensure consistency and quality across library services. * This Directorate General Library Sindh ensures efficiency of library in providing rudimentary facilities, information, literacy and study environment to the readers. Apart from it, this Directorate organizes various awareness / educational programs in collaboration with Lincoln Corner (operational under Consulate General of United States of America, Karachi) to promote, encourage and motivate public. In-fact, Directorate General Libraries Sindh keeps-on updating literary material books, newspapers, periodicals, magazines, brochures for the readers in order to provide them up to date knowledge on various subjects.
* The Directorate General of Public Libraries is continuously digitizing thousands of books on various subjects which are available online for readers. Further, this Directorate provides training and resources for library staff to enhance their skills and stay updated with current trends in librarianship.
